✅ Set expectations early. Say, “Here’s what I own—and what I support.” Clear roles reduce future tension.
✅ Name the emotional labor. When things get tense, say it: “I know this is a tough conversation. Let’s keep it productive.” That resets the tone.
✅ Use documentation to create space. Write down decisions and next steps clearly so you do not become the bottleneck or memory bank.
✅ Say no with solutions. “I cannot own this, but here’s how I can support you.” You stay helpful without being overextended.
